1.4 Location Data

LifeVault collects your device’s precise GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude) when Location Sharing is enabled.

Why We Collect Location Data

We use location data to:

• Share your real-time position with emergency contacts you authorise
• Pinpoint SOS emergency alert locations
• Support activity and health monitoring features
• Attach your location to check-in submissions

Background Location Collection

Location may be collected continuously in the background, including when the app is minimised or closed, as long as Location Sharing is enabled.

A persistent notification is displayed at all times during active background tracking.

Who Can Access Your Location

Your location data is transmitted securely to LifeVault servers and is accessible only to contacts you explicitly authorise.

LifeVault does not sell or share your location data with advertisers or unrelated third parties.

Disabling Location Sharing

You may disable Location Sharing at any time through:

Profile → Settings → Location Visibility

You may also revoke location permissions through your device settings.

  1. Health Connect Data

LifeVault may read health data from Android Health Connect, including:

• Heart rate
• Sleep duration
• Blood oxygen (SpO₂)
• Step count
• Calories burned
• Exercise sessions
• Water intake

This data is displayed within the app solely for your personal awareness and tracking purposes.

Health Connect data:

• Is not used for medical diagnosis
• Is not uploaded to LifeVault servers
• Is not shared with third parties

You may revoke Health Connect access at any time through the Health Connect application on your device.

  1. Activity Recognition

LifeVault uses activity recognition technology to detect movement states such as:

• Walking
• Running
• Driving
• Stationary activity

This functionality is used solely to optimise GPS update frequency and reduce battery usage.

Activity recognition data:

• Is processed on-device only
• Is not stored on LifeVault servers
• Is not shared with third parties

  1. Camera and Photos

LifeVault may access your camera and photo library for the following purposes.

Check-In Photos

Photos captured during check-ins are:

• Uploaded securely to LifeVault servers
• Stored as part of the check-in record
• Visible only to you and authorised emergency contacts

Profile Pictures

Profile images uploaded by users are stored on LifeVault servers and may be visible to authorised contacts.

LifeVault does not use photos for advertising purposes and does not share photos with unrelated third parties.

LifeVault may send notifications for the following purposes:

• Location service status alerts
• Check-in reminders
• SOS alerts from emergency contacts
• Appointment reminders
• Medication reminders

You may disable notifications at any time through your device notification settings.

LifeVault is available to users aged 13 and above.

Location data collected from users aged 13–17 is shared only with emergency contacts explicitly authorised by the account holder.

LifeVault does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that a user under 13 has registered or submitted personal data, we will take immediate steps to delete the account and associated information.
